The Navigation Centre

The Standard ERP work area contains a single movable tool palette: the Navigation Centre, located by default in the centre of the screen.

You can open the Navigation Centre or bring it to the front at any time using the 'Navigation Centre' item on the File menu. Windows and Linux users can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-M, while Mac OS X users can use ⌘-M. To close the Navigation Centre, click the close box or use the keyboard shortcuts Alt-F4/⌘-W (if you are using Windows, you cannot close the Navigation Centre if it is the only open window).

The Navigation Centre is divided into three main parts:
  • The area on the right of the Navigation Centre is known as the "Personal Desktop". If you have certain records, registers, reports or Maintenance functions that you use all the time, you can move them to your Personal Desktop for easy access. You can open a record or register or run a report or Maintenance function from your Personal Desktop at any time, without first having to change modules, find records in browse windows or find reports, forms or Maintenance functions in list windows. The Personal Desktop therefore gives you access to the most important parts of Standard ERP in a similar manner to a list of Bookmarks in a browser.     The lower part of the Personal Desktop is occupied by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). KPIs are described here.

  • The strip along the top of the Navigation Centre contains the following tools (where there are two illustrations, Windows buttons are on the left, Mac OS X on the right):

    The Operations drop-down menu contains a number of functions connected to the Personal Desktop. It also contains a function that you can use to change your password.

    Click this button if you want to log in as a different user.

    This button opens the Business Communicator window. This allows you to communicate with any Contact (both external and internal) using any method (e.g. telephone, mobile, Skype, SIP, email, text SMS and the chat feature built in to Standard ERP).

    Click this button to open the Standard ERP Marketplace. This provides a quick and easy method of adding licences (e.g. for new modules or for additional users) to your Standard ERP system. The Marketplace first displays your current configuration and then lists options available for purchase. The Marketplace is not enabled in every country, and requires your default browser to accept cookies.

    Clicking this button will open the 'Workflow Overview' window. This is a graphical display of your company's leads, quotations and sales orders. The Workflow Overview requires configuration using the Company Workflow Overview and/or User Workflow Overview settings in the CRM module.

    The + drop-down menu contains options allowing you to create new records in each of the registers in the current module, without needing to open those registers.

    Click this button to connect to the web and go to the HansaWorld website where you can find the Standard ERP manuals in a web format (www.hansamanuals.com).

    This button does not appear in the Navigation Centre in the Mac OS X version of the Standard ERP application. If you are using this version, choose 'Online Manual' from the Help menu to go to www.hansamanuals.com.

    If you are using Windows or Linux, you can also go to www.hansamanuals.com by choosing 'Help' from the Info menu.

    Click this button to connect to the web and go to the HansaWorld website where you can find tutorials illustrating how to use various functions in Standard ERP.

  • The left-hand part of the Navigation Centre contains a number of buttons, divided into two sections, as follows:
    Personal Productivity
    These buttons allow you to communicate with other users of your Standard ERP system and to organise your diary. This provides a means of recording appointments and other tasks. Some of these buttons have a keyboard shortcut, as shown below, which you can use when the Navigation Centre is the active (front) window.
    [Calendar]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-C
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-Shift-C
    Opens your Calendar. You can use this tool to schedule your time and that of other users.
    Requirement: access to the Calendar module.

    [Mailbox]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-M
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-Shift-M
    Opens your Mailbox. This allows you to send and receive mail from other users in your Standard ERP system, and to send and receive external mail (i.e. to communicate with people outside your Standard ERP system who use standard email programs).
    Requirement: you must have a Mailbox.

    [Tasks]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-T
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-T
    Opens your Task Manager. This is your 'To Do' list. If you have tasks to do on the day of logging in, this icon will feature a green marker displaying the number of tasks to be done. If you have any tasks outstanding from previous days, the marker will be red.
    Requirement: access to the Task Manager module.

    [Conferences]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-O
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-Shift-O
    Opens a list of Conferences. These are addresses to which you can send public mail (mail all users can read, subject to access restrictions).
    Requirement: you must have a Mailbox.

    [Resources]
    Opens the Resource Planner window.
    Requirement: access to the Resource Planning module.

    [SmartApps]
    SmartApps are small applications that you can purchase or create yourself. You can share and synchronise information between a SmartApp in your Standard ERP system and one on a hand-held device such as a Nokia E90. Example applications might include workforce automation, data collection and on-line reporting. This button opens a list of the SmartApps in your system.

    Navigation
    This section of the Navigation Centre contains links to tasks that you will carry out as part of your daily work. Clicking one of these buttons will open a list of options in which you can choose the one you need by double-clicking. The options in the list will vary depending on the current module. Each of these buttons has a keyboard shortcut, as shown below, which you can use at any time (even if the Navigation Centre is hidden).
    [Registers]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl-F
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts: ⌘-F
    Opens a list of the registers in the current module. Separate registers are used for the different types of information stored in and used by the module. Double-click on a register in the list to open the browse window listing all the records contained in the selected register. You can also open a register by using the Ctrl-1-8/⌘-1-8 keyboard shortcuts from anywhere in the system (even if the Navigation Centre is hidden or closed) i.e. Ctrl-1/⌘-1 for the first register in the list in a module, Ctrl-2/⌘-2 for the second register in the list, and so on.

    [Settings]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-S
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-S
    Allows you to tailor the operations of each module to your requirements.

    [Reports]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-R
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-R
    Prints reports to screen, printer, file or other print destination.

    [Routines]
    Allows you to import and export information, run Maintenance functions (batch processing routines), and register your copy of Standard ERP.

    [Forms]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-D
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-D
    Prints forms and documents intended for external use (e.g. Invoices or Purchase Orders).

    [Switch Module]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-0 (zero)
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-0 (zero)
    Allows you to work in a different module (e.g. to change from the Nominal Ledger to the Sales Ledger). You can change modules using the keyboard shortcut at any time (even if the Navigation Centre is hidden or closed).

    [Companies]
    Windows/Linux keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-O
    Mac OS X keyboard shortcut: ⌘-O
    Allows you to change the Company you are working in. You can change Company using the keyboard shortcut at any time (even if the Navigation Centre is hidden or closed).
