Hotel Shifts

This page describes the Hotel Shifts setting in the Hotel module.

You can use the Reservation Journal report to list Reservations that checked in or checked out during particular time periods or work shifts. If you need to use this feature, you should use the Hotel Shifts setting to divide the day into shifts.

Comment
Enter a name for each shift. Up to five shifts can be accommodated, but as shown in the illustration you do not need to use all five.

The Comments will be shown in the 'Paste Special' list that users will use to choose a Shift when producing a Reservation Journal report, so be sure to assign a distinctive Comment to each Shift.

Enter the times when the shifts start and end, using the HH:MM:SS format.
When you create a new Reservation, the Check In and Check Out Times specified in the Hotel Settings setting will be brought in as defaults. Usually these will not be changed during the life of the Reservation, so each Reservation will have the same Check In and Check Out Times. However, if the check-in staff belong to Access Groups that have been denied access to the 'Check In before or after Planned Date' and 'Check In after Planned Date' Actions, the Check In and Check Out Times will be updated automatically on check-in and check-out. It is therefore recommended that you deny access to these Access Group Actions if you need to use Hotel Shifts.
