Create Depreciation Transactions

This function is similar to 'Create Depreciation Simulations', the only differences being that it will create a record in the Transaction register, bypassing the Simulation register, and that it will create separate records in the Asset Transaction register for each Asset being depreciated. Please refer to the page describing the 'Create Depreciation Simulations' function for full details, and note that the 'Specify Create Depreciation Transactions' window offers the following additional features and options compared to the 'Specify Create Depreciation Simulations' window:

Trans. Date
Paste Special    Choose date
As in the 'Specify Create Depreciation Simulations' window, enter here the date that is to be used as the Transaction Date in the Transactions created by the function. If you do not enter a date, the current date will be used. An additional feature of the 'Specify Create Depreciation Transactions' window is that the Trans. Date will be set to the end date of the period as a default.

Trans. No. Series
You can specify that the Transaction Numbers of the Transactions created by this function are to be taken from a particular number sequence in the Number Series - Transactions setting. To do this, enter any number in the number sequence here. If you leave this field empty, Transaction Numbers will be taken from the first valid number sequence in the setting. If the number that you enter is not in a valid number sequence, no Transactions will be created.

Check for existing Transactions
By default, there is no control to prevent you from running this function repeatedly for the same Asset for the same period, so you should take care when using it.

However, as previously mentioned, this function will create separate records in the Asset Transaction register for each Asset being depreciated. Select this option if you would like the Asset Transaction register to be checked to see if an Asset has already been depreciated. If you select this option and there is an Asset Transaction for an Asset in the selected range in which the date is the Trans. Date specified above, the function will not create a depreciation Transaction for that Asset.

Note that if you previously depreciated an Asset by running the 'Create Depreciation Simulations' function and then creating a Transaction from the resulting Simulation, an Asset Transaction will not be created. So, selecting this option will only be effective if you previously depreciated the Asset using this 'Create Depreciation Transactions' function (or if you used the 'Create Depreciation Simulations' function and created suitable Asset Transactions yourself).

This option will be selected by default in Latvia (i.e. when the VAT Law in the Company Info setting is set to "Latvian").
