Operations Menu - Simulations - Create N/L Transactions

This page describes the 'Create N/L Transactions' function on the Operations menu in the 'Simulations: Browse' window. If you are using iOS or Android, the 'Create N/L Transaction' function is on the Tools menu (with 'wrench' icon).

---

The 'Create N/L Transactions' command is only available on the Operations menu for the 'Simulations: Browse' window. It allows you to create permanent Nominal Ledger Transactions from the Simulations that you have highlighted in the browse window.

If you are using Windows or macOS, you can use this function to create Transactions from Simulations in batches. Simply highlight a number of Simulations in the browse window and select the function. To highlight a range of Simulations, click the top one in the range and then hold down the Shift key and click the last one. If you need to apply the function to a number of Simulations that aren't in a range, highlight them while holding the Ctrl (Windows) or ⌘ (macOS) keys before selecting the function.

If you are using iOS or Android, you can only highlight a single Simulations at a time, by searching for it, so you can only create Transactions from a single Simulation at a time.

When you select the function, a new record will be created in the Transaction register for each Simulation that you have highlighted. A Simulation row will only be included in a new Transaction if its Status field on flip B is set to "Active", "Year End Stage 1" or "Year End Stage 2" (or if its Status is "Default" and the Status in the header is "Active", "Year End Stage 1" or "Year End Stage 2"). The Status on flip B will then be changed to "Transferred" to prevent the row being included in new Transactions more than once. If you do need it to be included in new Transactions more than once, change the Status back to "Active".

The Transaction Dates of the new Nominal Ledger Transactions will be the same as the dates in the rows of the Simulations from which they were created. If there are Simulation rows with different dates, separate Transactions will be created for each date. Otherwise a single Transaction will be created for each Simulation. If there are rows without dates, the date will be taken from the header of the Simulation record.

You can use Access Groups to prevent certain users from creating Transactions from Simulations. To do this, deny them access to the 'NL Transactions from Simulations' Action.

This function is one of two that you can use to create Nominal Ledger Transactions from Simulations. The other is the 'Generate N/L Accrual Transactions' Maintenance function which, despite its name, will create Transactions from all Simulations, not just those representing Accruals.
