Fuel Types

This page describes the Fuel Types setting in the Expenses module.

---

The Fuel Types setting in the Expenses module is a list of the different types of fuel used by the cars and vehicles owned by your business. You can use this setting to construct a look-up table that you can then use when entering records in the Cars setting and Mileage register.

To open the Fuel Types setting, first ensure you are in the Expenses module. Then, if you are using Windows or Mac OS X, click the [Settings] button in the Navigation Centre or use the Ctrl-S/⌘-S keyboard shortcuts and then double-click 'Fuel Types' in the 'Settings' list. If you are using iOS or Android, select 'Settings' from the Tools menu (with 'wrench' icon) and tap 'Fuel Types' in the 'Settings' list. The following window will appear:

Enter each new Fuel Type on the first blank line and, when finished, click the [Save] button (Windows/Mac OS X) or tap √ (iOS/Android) to save the changes. To close the window without saving changes, click the close box (Windows/Mac OS X) or tap < (iOS/Android).

It is recommended that you enter Fuel Types in alphabetical order, as shown in the illustration. You can insert a new Fuel Type in the correct place in the list by clicking on a row number and pressing the Return key (Windows/Mac OS X) or long tapping on a row number and selecting 'Insert Row' (iOS/Android). When you enter a new record in the Cars setting or a new Mileage record and use 'Paste Special' to choose a Fuel Type, the Fuel Types will be listed in the same order as they are listed in this setting. If they are in alphabetical order, you will be able to find the correct one quickly and easily.
