The 'Change Approval Activities Task Type' Maintenance Function

The Approval Rules mechanism was rewritten in Standard ERP version 8.0 2014-11-20. Most of the changes are behind the scenes, but one that is visible is the introduction of the Approval Task Type in Approval Request Activities.

On updating to version 8.0 2014-11-20, you will need to change the Task Type in existing Approval Request Activities. A Maintenance function, 'Change Approval Activities Task Type', was added to the Technics module to allow you to do this at one stroke. To remind you to do this, you will be asked "Please, run Change Approval Activities Task Type maintenance" each time you log in.

To run the 'Change Approval Activities Task Type' Maintenance function, you will need to work in the Technics module. If you are working in a multi-user system and 'Technics' is not included in the list that opens when you click (Windows/macOS) or tap (iOS/Android) the [Switch Module] button in the Navigation Centre, the probable reason is that you have logged on as a Person that does not have access to this module. If you are the system administrator, your Global User or Person record should belong to an Access Group that explicitly grants full access to the Technics module. In a single-user system, the probable reason is that the Server option is not ticked in the Configuration setting in the System module.

Follow these steps:

  1. Update your database to the new version of Standard ERP.

  2. Change to the Technics module and select the 'Change Approval Activities Task Type' Maintenance function:

  3. Press the [Run] button. This will cause the Task Type in all Approval Request Activities to be changed to Approval.

  4. Repeat the process in each Company.

  5. You only need run the 'Change Approval Activities Task Type' function once in each Company. Running it for a second time will not change the data in any way.
